A criminal pretending to be an Uber driver stole $223,000 in cryptocurrency from passengers.
Police in Scottsdale, Arizona, have arrested a local man on charges of fraud and stealing cryptocurrency from people he lured by posing as an Uber driver. According to police, Nuruhussein Hussein stalked and picked up two victims in his car, one in March and one in October.
Hussein addressed people waiting for a ride by name. However, court documents do not indicate how Hussein knew the names of the victims who ordered a ride from Uber.
He then asked for the victims' phone numbers under various pretexts and threatened to gain access to Coinbase.
