According to Pravda, Ukraine plans to officially legalize cryptocurrency in the first quarter of 2025. The relevant bill has been jointly drafted by a parliamentary working group, the National Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and is expected to be submitted for the first round of review after the New Year. According to Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament's Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy, cryptocurrencies will adopt a tax model similar to that of securities, taxing profits when assets are converted to fiat currency, and will not enjoy tax exemptions. In November 2023, Ukraine registered a bill on the taxation of virtual asset transactions, and the passage of this bill will become the final step in the legalization of cryptocurrency.
