Former SEC official John Reed Stark calls for a moratorium on crypto lawsuits
John Reed Stark, the former head of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Internet Enforcement, once called cryptocurrencies a “scourge,” but now he’s calling for a moratorium on all lawsuits against the industry, including the appeal against Ripple, DLNews reported.
Stark believes that Trump’s election victory shows that the public wants the United States to take a friendlier stance on cryptocurrency regulation. He stressed the importance of democracy and said that respecting election results is more important than the risks of digital assets.
Stark, who once supported the SEC’s cryptocurrency crackdown, now predicts that under Trump, the SEC will no longer bring fraud cases against crypto industry players.
