What is BRC20?
BRC20 is the same standard for tokens as ERC20 or BEP20. ERC20 is needed to create tokens on the Ethereum network. BEP20 - for creating tokens on BNB Chain. And BRC20 is an experimental standard for minting coins on the Bitcoin network.
The BRC20 market has reached a capitalization of $1 billion in a couple of months. The technology has found supporters and opponents. The latter are even on the Bitcoin Core team. The reason for the latter’s dissatisfaction: of the 8,500 BRC tokens, almost all are meme coins.
However, there is a positive point: it was the meme coins MEME, PEPE and ORDI that brought fame to the standard. And lucky investors get money. The most famous example is PEPE, which brought $1 million to a trader with $250.
