Man Sentenced for "Selling" Virtual Currency
On November 22, the People's Court of Ningdu County pronounced a sentence in a case involving fraud using virtual currency, sentencing the defendant Huang Mouwei to 1 year of imprisonment, 1 year and 6 months of probation, and a fine of 20,000 yuan.
On July 7, 2023, the victim Lv contacted the man Huang Mouwei to purchase virtual currency. Huang Mouwei, in collusion with Peng Mouyu (handled in another case), falsely claimed to have virtual currency and contacted co-defendant Lai Mouhui (handled in another case) to provide a bank account under his name to receive Lv's payment of 30,000 yuan, but never delivered the virtual currency to Lv.
Later, Lai Mouhui withdrew a total of 24,500 yuan through WeChat transfers and by inviting others to help withdraw cash, while the remaining 5,500 yuan was frozen in the account.
On August 23, 2023, defendant Huang Mouwei, along with co-defendants Peng Mouyu and Lai Mouhui, jointly compensated the victim Lv with 30,000 yuan and obtained Lv's forgiveness.
The court found that defendant Huang Mouwei and other co-defendants intended to illegally possess property, used telecommunications networks to fabricate facts and conceal the truth, defrauding others of property, with a substantial amount involved, thus constituting the crime of fraud.
Considering the facts of the crime, circumstances, and social harm caused by defendant Huang Mouwei, the court made the above judgment in accordance with the law. #内容挖矿 $SOL
