Ripple warns of deepfake scams

Ripple has issued a warning about the rise of deepfake scams amid a significant increase in XRP prices. In a statement on December 2, the company emphasized that it will never ask users to transfer XRP, a message that CEO Brad Garlinghouse and other executives also reiterated. The rise of these scams is mainly related to scammers using deepfake technology to impersonate the images and voices of Ripple leaders in order to solicit fake XRP investments, specifically advertisements promising high returns if users send XRP.

Ripple has shared a video reflecting these tricks, thereby raising awareness in the community about verifying information from official sources. The company advises users to be cautious when faced with messages that seem too good to be true and encourages them to report any fraudulent activities to the authorities. This concern also arises as the price of XRP has grown by 436% in the past month, making it an attractive target for scammers.
