Brazil has gained the first platform that connects NGOs and donors through cryptocurrencies: Dominó do Bem.
The solution aims to use blockchain technology to transform the donation process, making it safer, more efficient and transparent.
Blockchain ensures that 100% of donated cryptocurrencies reach NGOs
One of the main advantages is the absence of intermediaries. This is because the use of blockchain ensures that 100% of the donated amounts reach NGOs directly. And all without fees or deductions, increasing trust and providing full traceability. In addition, organizations gain greater autonomy over the management of the resources received.
Dominó do Bem does not take any part of the donated amount to cover its own expenses, or maintenance and administration. Furthermore, every user (donor or NGO) can create their account for free, explains the platform.
Another important benefit is the fully transparent process. Donors have access to their contribution history. Simply access the “Wallet” page on their profile to see the entire history of transfers made to/from the account’s digital wallet. Donations will be listed individually, with all the information needed to search the blockchain, the initiative explains.
How to donate in cryptocurrencies?
To make a donation, the process is simple: just create an account, connect your wallet, choose a social campaign and determine the amount. Dominó do Bem currently operates with the Polygon network and uses the POL cryptocurrency. It is linked to USDC (a stablecoin backed by the US dollar), thus ensuring the stability of transactions.
Additionally, donors can use filters on the website to find NGOs that work directly on the causes that interest them most.
It works like any other normal donation. Think of cryptocurrency as a way to offer your support. If you donate 10 coins, for example, the NGO or project you choose will receive the same amount, explains the creator of Dominó do Bem, Patrick O’Neil.
O’Neil reinforces that, through cryptocurrencies, it is possible to make donations anywhere in the world and without the need for intermediaries.
The idea of creating tools like Dominó do Bem came about when we noticed the difference in support among Brazilians dedicated to transforming their communities. The interest of foreigners in learning about and contributing to these causes also drove the idea to take shape. Lupa do Bem was developed to bring to light local initiatives that often do not receive the necessary visibility, offering a platform for prominence and encouragement.
Who already uses Dominó do Bem?
Currently, six NGOs are registered with Dominó do Bem and are eligible to receive donations in cryptocurrencies to support the continuity and growth of their projects. Four other organizations are in the process of being included on the platform. Among the NGOs already active, Mais1Code stands out, which offers technology and programming training to young people from low-income communities.
Another great advantage of this platform is the possibility of receiving cryptocurrencies from anywhere in the world, as well as allowing it to reach a more diverse audience, committed to social impact, in addition to innovative ways to contribute.
This tool will be crucial to expanding our reach and enhancing the transformations we promote in peripheral communities through education and technology, says O’Neil.
In addition to Mais1Code, Play4Change and the Volunteer Fire Department of the city of Rolante are among the projects that receive donations.
Through our partnership with Dominó do Bem, we hope to enhance social impact by connecting organizations and communities to resources that drive real and sustainable transformations. Together, we will expand our reach and promote innovative solutions to generate positive change, says Play4Change co-founder Rodrigo dos Santos.
