Vietnam ranks second in the world in digital asset ownership rate
Vietnam is currently ranked second in the world in terms of the percentage of the population owning digital assets, with about 20 million participants. According to reports, approximately 120 billion USD in cryptocurrency is transferred to Vietnam each year. This indicates a significant potential in the digital asset sector in our country.
However, the current legal system is still not complete enough to effectively manage this field. National Assembly representatives emphasize the importance of clearly defining digital assets in the Draft Law on Digital Technology Industry to create a comprehensive legal framework. There needs to be a specific classification of types of digital assets and clarity regarding the responsibilities of service providers to protect consumer rights.
Without a clear legal framework, there is a risk of missing the opportunity to exploit this important digital economy sector, which could lead to Vietnam becoming a destination for opaque activities in the cryptocurrency field.
