In Bangkok, a van with $SOL $ETC $DEGO SMS blaster for phishing distribution was found
The Thai police discovered a van with an SMS blaster for phishing distribution to residents of Bangkok. The device had a range of about three kilometers and allowed sending up to 100,000 messages per hour, local media report.
In three days, almost a million text messages were sent to mobile phones within the range. All of them notified about allegedly accrued gift points from a major Thai telecom operator, Advanced Info Service, and contained a link to a phishing site.
When users clicked on it, they were asked for their credit card information, the funds from which the criminals withdrew in other countries. The group coordinated its activities through private Telegram channels.
The 35-year-old driver of the van has been arrested. The police are searching for at least two more of his accomplices.
