Chinese gaming giant Boya Interactive turns to BTC
Boya Interactive, a Chinese gaming giant listed in Hong Kong, recently exchanged a large amount of Ethereum for Bitcoin.
In an announcement on November 29, they stated that they spent over $49 million to convert 14,200 Ethereum into approximately 515 Bitcoin. This averages to about $2,777 per Ethereum, totaling $39.45 million.
After the exchange, Boya currently holds 3,183 Bitcoin, averaging $57,724 each.
The company said that given the current situation of Ethereum and Bitcoin, this move was made to acquire more Bitcoin. The board believes that it is quite appropriate to convert Ethereum into Bitcoin at this time.
Earlier this March, Boya announced a $100 million plan, stating they would allocate $45 million to buy Bitcoin, $45 million to buy Ethereum, and $10 million to buy stablecoins such as Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC.
In July, they also disclosed that they invested $1 million into a fund that manages the Bitcoin ecosystem, which partners with BTC company, a major player in the Bitcoin space that also runs Bitcoin Magazine and Bitcoin conferences.
Now, Bitcoin is becoming increasingly popular in the corporate world. For instance, the online streaming platform Rumble also announced plans to invest money in Bitcoin to diversify their cash holdings.
Their board approved $20 million for flexible Bitcoin purchases. Additionally, the health and plant-based products e-commerce company Jiva Technologies has also decided to invest in Bitcoin, with a strategic investment amounting to up to $1 million.
