PANews, November 30 - According to a report from Caixin, Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, stated that during the Thanksgiving holiday, members of the party faced "violent threats," including bomb warnings and false reports to law enforcement in an attempt to lure SWAT teams to the homes of lawmakers. Previously, cabinet nominees of then-elected President Donald Trump had also experienced similar incidents. The threats against Democratic lawmakers included, "detailed threats regarding placing pipe bombs in mailboxes and attempts to deceive SWAT teams into responding; all information was signed off with 'MAGA,'" Jeffries said in a statement on Friday. The 'MAGA' he referred to stands for Trump's political slogan 'Make America Great Again.' Jeffries noted that due to the swift response from law enforcement, no devices were found, and members of Congress and their families were safe during the holiday. Some Democratic lawmakers from Connecticut stated they were targeted in the Thanksgiving incidents, including Representatives Jim Himes, Rosa DeLauro, and Jahana Hayes. They posted the threats they received on the social media platform X.
