On November 29, according to a report from 8world, Singapore Police Force and Cyber Security Agency issued a joint statement that criminals are using various methods to steal cryptocurrency from victims’ wallets. These include impersonating legitimate entities on social media, offering freebies or promotions, and asking victims to share personal information such as login credentials.

Criminals may also pretend to be a cryptocurrency company and use the pretext of evaluating the victim’s ability in the blockchain field to send malicious links. Once clicked, the cryptocurrency in the victim’s wallet will be automatically transferred. Additionally, criminals may use phishing websites, software vulnerabilities, smart contracts, etc.

to invade the victim’s wallet and transfer cryptocurrency. The Singaporean government departments call on the public to take preventive measures to protect wallets, such as using higher-security offline storage devices, using strong passwords and two-factor authentication, and checking accounts frequently.

If you suspect you have been a victim, you should contact a cryptocurrency exchange immediately, stop trading or freeze your account, check and revoke any suspicious token authorizations, transfer the remaining cryptocurrency in the affected wallet to another wallet, and notify relevant departments.
