Microsoft and Atom Computing have announced a major breakthrough in quantum computing, potentially transforming blockchain mining. The duo achieved a record by entangling 24 logical qubits using just 80 physical qubits, a significant leap from previous estimates requiring thousands of physical qubits for similar tasks.

This advancement could revolutionize proof-of-work systems in blockchain, as quantum computers might soon outperform classical miners. Grover’s Algorithm, a theoretical quantum technique, could drastically reduce the effort needed to solve encryption puzzles like SHA-256 used in Bitcoin mining.
