🚀 CZ: Not Opposing Meme Coins, the Key is to Promote Their Real Application in Blockchain
Binance founder Zhao Changpeng (CZ) expressed his views on meme coins yesterday on X, stating that meme coins have started to become a bit strange. But don't get it wrong, he is not against meme coins; he just hopes that developers can put more effort into truly useful blockchain applications rather than just launching some meaningless tokens.
Many people agree with CZ, feeling that meme coins have shifted from being purely fun at the beginning to now becoming increasingly strange and desperate. X user AhmetCrypto also mentioned that the craze for meme coins is not easy to diminish, especially as some tokens have the backing of big names like Elon Musk.
Additionally, Musk, as a fervent supporter of Dogecoin (DOGE), even created a new government department for this currency, also named DOGE.
Ahmet added that we should promote meme coins of better quality and larger communities; otherwise, most meme coins will eventually turn into garbage. CZ responded below his tweet, stating that he does not want to end meme coins but rather encourages everyone to create real applications using blockchain.
CZ's thoughts align with those of Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin, who previously called on everyone to create more interesting blockchain games, rather than just copying and pasting meme coins. He also believes that meme coins can become projects that positively contribute to the crypto ecosystem.
At the same time that Buterin and CZ expressed these views, a large number of meme coin issuances appeared in the cryptocurrency space, especially with issuance platforms like Solana's Pump.fun and Tron network's SunPump, where thousands of tokens are issued daily.
In summary, meme tokens need to evolve and change. As called for by Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin and Binance founder CZ, developers should utilize blockchain to create genuinely useful applications instead of merely copying and pasting meme tokens. Only in this way can meme tokens transform from useless tokens into projects that positively contribute to the crypto ecosystem and support public goods, achieving sustainable development.
