Odaily Planet Daily News According to official news, the Eigen Foundation published an article introducing the governance system EigenGov of EigenLayer, Part One. The role of EigenGov is to maintain the coordination layer of the EigenLayer ecosystem, which is composed of EIGEN holders, AVS developers, operators, and stakers, who are key participants in the prosperity, security, and reliability of the EigenLayer protocol. EigenGov brings together ecosystem participants to support a shared vision of open innovation through a novel system that is both effective and decentralized. The core of EigenGov V1 is its council. The power of EigenGov will be held by a network of councils made up of trusted high-context domain experts, empowered by token holders to represent the community in decision-making and held accountable through a system of checks and balances. The council will have powers in specific areas to make decisions and take actions regarding the EigenLayer protocol and EigenGov. These powers include decision-making authority and the power to upgrade core protocol contracts (Protocol Council), the power to manage reward parameters (Incentive Council), the power to manage community grant budgets (Grant Council), and the power to set limits and assess governance and governance powers (Eigen Council). Each council will have a charter to govern the scope of its decision-making and powers, and over time, the number, scope of activities, and number of members of these initial councils will continue to expand. EIGEN holders will have the right to veto council decisions. In the near future, Eigen holders will also be able to (i) directly recognize the qualifications of EigenLayer contributors in certain subject knowledge or skills that may qualify these contributors to become council members, and/or (ii) delegate power to 'curators', who will make such recognitions on behalf of the Eigen holders who delegate power to them. This 'recognition' model is novel and should be distinguished from delegation. Decision-makers who have the trust of the community are elevated to council members and actively vote on all proposals. Token holders can veto proposals as needed to check for serious inconsistencies in decision-making. Furthermore, token holders will be able to express opinions on proposals before council votes, enhancing collective opinion without the need for detailed expertise on every issue. To address the challenges of effective and decentralized governance, the Eigen Foundation is implementing an incubation concept to create, appoint, and manage councils. Initially, the decentralized structure will be incubated within the Eigen Foundation as independent councils. Incubation ensures that councils operate effectively in the short term. It also provides time to research, develop, test, and iterate new council and governance designs. These designs will launch robust decentralized solutions targeting the following key issues: Council Incentives: Reward council members for continuous, high-quality, and long-term value creation. Council Coordination: Reduce agency problems by creating new systems to support decentralized coordination of decision-makers and protocol needs. Council Accountability: Hold decision-makers accountable to token holders through checks and balances, transparency, and reporting.
