$GLM GLM is the native token of the Golem network platform, formally known as Golem, and sometimes referred to as GNT. The GLM token was issued on November 11, 2016, with a total supply of 1,000,000,000 GNT (later renamed to GLM). Golem is a decentralized computing power rental platform built on the Ethereum platform, where users can become both suppliers and renters of computing power, whether it's a single idle home computer or several large data centers, they can all join the Golem platform.
The main function of GLM is to be used for purchasing computing power and settling earnings on the Golem platform. Users need GLM tokens to pay for computing fees on the network, and it is the currency that drives the Golem market. As a requester, users set the GLM amount they are willing to pay for completing tasks; as a provider, users earn GLM by computing tasks for requesters.
On November 19, 2020, GNT was officially renamed to GLM. The circulation and market value of GLM are also constantly changing, and according to the latest market data, both the price and trading volume of GLM have shown corresponding fluctuations. The goal of the Golem project is to create a decentralized global computing power market, significantly reducing computing costs to make complex applications, such as CGI rendering, scientific computing, and machine learning (artificial intelligence), accessible to everyone, aiming to become the cornerstone of building the future internet.
