SEC when will it decide on SOL and XRP ETFs?
Although the approval of spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs in the United States is seen as a turning point for BTC and cryptocurrencies, other altcoin ETFs are also expected to receive approval.
Currently, the best-case scenario for the approval of Solana (SOL) and Ripple (XRP) ETFs is 2025.
As discussions around U.S. regulation gain momentum, decisions regarding altcoin ETFs may be postponed to the end of 2025 due to various factors.
Unlike spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, these altcoins do not have regulated futures markets on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME).
Due to previous decisions made by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, there is still some uncertainty in the current environment for altcoin ETFs.
The main reason for the approval of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs is the regulated futures market on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME).
Since most altcoins, including SOL and XRP, do not have regulated futures markets, this may slow down the approval process for ETFs.
Although SOL, XRP, and HBAR have all submitted applications for spot ETFs, current regulations do not allow them to launch.
The new SEC leadership in 2025 may be more friendly towards cryptocurrencies, which could allow for the approval of other ETFs and the addition of staking features in ETFs.
