The Bitcoin financial services company Swan Bitcoin has sued the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher for hiring a lawyer who represents the stablecoin issuer and competitor cryptocurrency company Tether. Swan filed the lawsuit against Gibson on November 22 in California Superior Court, accusing them of legal malpractice, claiming they "solicited and won Swan" to represent Swan against "former partner turned opponent" Tether, after which the law firm "accepted Tether as a client and told Swan to go away." Swan claims that a lawyer from Gibson called the firm's CEO Cory Klippsten, warning Swan to find other lawyers because the firm had hired Tether's lawyer Barry Berke, which could present a conflict of interest.
