Farcaster co-founder Dan Romero detailed the updates of Frames, a decentralized Web3 social protocol. Farcaster Frames will launch in January 2024, after which Farcaster's activity surged, with daily active users increasing by 400% in early February. However, it has slightly weakened since then. Romero stated that the first version of Frames still has limitations, as the high number of interactions makes it difficult to build larger applications, and additionally, the image rendering speed of Frames is slow, and the 'ephemeral' state prevents users from returning. He said that the upgrade to Frames v2 is aimed at addressing some of these issues by providing more advanced framework standards that support more flexible fullscreen in-app applications, interactive experiences, on-chain transactions, and user notifications. "Developers can build anything that can be rendered in the browser and can use the framework SDK to trigger actions such as saving frames or requesting on-chain transactions," Romero explained. The initial new specification for Frames that Romero highlighted will be released on November 27 for the web and mobile devices, with a subsequent update with more features launching on December 6. According to the full specifications on GitHub, the complete stable version is expected to be released in January or February. (Cointelegraph) Earlier today, Farcaster co-founder Dan Romero announced on X that the developer preview of Frames v2 is now live, with the new version improving the reliability and speed of transactions and signed messages on mobile devices using mobile wallet protocols and Rainbow.
