PANews November 26 news, according to Cryptoslate, Polygon Labs CEO Marc Boiron attributed the difficulty in achieving wider adoption of the Polygon network to racial bias against its co-founder Sandeep Nailwal. In a post released on November 25 on platform X, Boiron hinted that Nailwal's Indian heritage led to bias that hindered the recognition of Polygon, despite it being widely used across the blockchain industry. He wrote: 'If Sandeep were not Indian, then Web3 would have massively embraced Polygon, and it would not be regarded as a second-class citizen even when Polygon's proof of stake is more commonly used than all blockchains combined.'
When a user in the cryptocurrency community argued that Indians have held important positions in major tech companies globally, Boiron responded that geography also plays a role. He noted that Indians like Sreeram Kannan at EigenLayer face far less bias in Western countries compared to those working in India. Meanwhile, the broader Web3 community still has divisions on this issue. Some users believe the challenges facing Polygon stem from competition from emerging Ethereum Layer 2 networks or the network's own strategies, rather than bias.
