The Avalanche team has launched a major upgrade named "Avalanche9000" on the testnet, which includes multiple technical improvements aimed at reducing blockchain deployment costs by 99.9%. These technical improvements include community proposals ACP-77 and ACP-125, with ACP-77 aimed at making Avalanche Layer 1 validators more flexible, and ACP-125 aimed at reducing the basic fees of Avalanche by 96%.

The ACP-77 proposal redesigns the relationship between Avalanche L1s and the main network, allowing Avalanche L1 validators to no longer be subject to the strict requirements imposed on main network validators, such as a minimum staking requirement of 2,000 AVAX, thus significantly lowering the operational costs for Avalanche L1 validators. Additionally, this proposal transforms the P-Chain's fee mechanism from a fixed per-transaction fee to a dynamic fee, ensuring the long-term economic sustainability of the network.

Alongside the Avalanche9000 upgrade, Retro9000 is also being launched, which is a $40 million funding program aimed at rewarding builders who develop Layer 1 blockchains and other tools on the Avalanche9000 testnet. This program is designed to incentivize developers to create new protocols before the new upgrade and specifically rewards those developers focused on building the 9000th layer blockchain and foundational development tools on the Avalanche1 testnet.
