Golden Finance reports that Axie Infinity developer SkyMavis will lay off 21% of its workforce. According to TechInAsia, the layoffs are expected to affect about 50 of the approximately 250 team members worldwide. CEO and co-founder Trung Nguyen wrote in an X post last Saturday: "I want to be clear: this decision is not related to the company's budget or financial health. This is a strategic move that will allow Sky Mavis to focus more and position itself for hyper-growth in 2025 and beyond." Nguyen stated that the layoffs reflect a "shift in focus," listing the company's main priorities for the future, including expanding the Ronin network and wallet services, Mavis Marketplace, Axie Infinity, and developing a new Axie Infinity game.
