On November 22, 2024, Chief Executive Li Ka-chiu visited Cyberport today (November 22), visited the Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Center and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, learned about the latest developments and achievements of Cyberport’s artificial intelligence ecosystem, and listened to the Enterprises share their experience in implementing Cyberport, how Cyberport supports their R&D and business development, and the positive impact of scientific research results on improving smart cities and promoting the digital economy. Joining the delegation are Professor Sun Tung, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Wong Chi-kwong, Digital Policy Commissioner, Chen Xi-ming, Chairman of Cyberport, and Dr. Zheng Songyan, Chief Executive Officer.

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Mr Lee Ka-chiu, said: "My team and I are working hard to build Hong Kong into an international center for innovation and technology. Government, industry, academia, research and investment are closely linked. The SAR government has been using a comprehensive strategy to improve the innovation and technology ecosystem. . Artificial intelligence is an important driving force for the new round of industrial innovation and digital economic development. Hong Kong must seize the opportunity to further enhance its competitiveness and innovation capabilities. I encourage more different industries in Hong Kong to use their creativity and leverage local flourishing artificial intelligence. Ecosystem, comprehensively promote the "digital intelligence" application of artificial intelligence."

Cyberport Chairman Chan Sai-ming said: "Cyberport, as the core base for the development of artificial intelligence in Hong Kong, is committed to enhancing Hong Kong's advantages in developing the artificial intelligence industry and building a complete artificial intelligence ecosystem with Hong Kong's largest supercomputing center as the power engine. Thank you. The SAR government supports the promotion of the artificial intelligence industry. The first phase of the supercomputing center facilities will soon be opened. In conjunction with the SAR government’s artificial intelligence funding plan, the first batch of funded projects will be announced to support the strong computing power needs of local universities, research and development institutions and related enterprises. Improve research and development capabilities, promote scientific research breakthroughs, and accelerate industrial development.”

Dr. Zheng Songyan, Chief Executive Officer of Cyberport, said: "Cyberport Supercomputing Center aims to provide a high-end computing power foundation for Hong Kong's artificial intelligence industry and research and development. The first phase of the facility was originally scheduled to provide approximately 300 PFLOPS of computing power. Considering the huge demand from the scientific research community , it is not too late to speed up the supply of computing power. Cyberport strives to increase the total computing power capacity of the supercomputing center to 1,300 PFLOPS as soon as possible this year, and gradually increase it to the level of 3,000 PFLOPS in 2025 to cope with the technology community’s demand for computing power. Urgent need."

The level of computing power provided by the Cyberport Supercomputing Center is estimated to be equivalent to completing nearly 10 billion image processing per hour, more than 11 million hours of voice translation, and more than 40,000 kilometers of autonomous driving artificial intelligence data processing. The supercomputing center will promote the development and research of higher-end and complex artificial intelligence and greatly shorten model training time. In line with the general trend of artificial intelligence development, Cyberport has established an artificial intelligence laboratory to provide an interactive space for displaying artificial intelligence solutions and publishing service products, promoting artificial intelligence-related research and development and cooperation, and providing a platform for artificial intelligence ecosystem partners and enterprises to experience Different supercomputing equipment tools jointly explore product innovation and integration technologies, and apply them in different industries and scenarios to promote the transformation and implementation of innovative technologies, so as to drive the development of digital economy and smart cities with new productivity.

During his visit to the Cyberport Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the Chief Executive listened to representatives from many Cyberport artificial intelligence companies share their implementation experience and research and development results, including local start-up Weitu AI demonstrating its artificial intelligence video assistant product, and Votee AI demonstrating its Cantonese artificial intelligence chat. Robotics, iFlytek, a leading mainland company based in Cyberport, demonstrates its Spark essay correction application, and China Film Group showcases its artificial intelligence dynamic video animation products every year. Cyberport actively uses the supercomputing center as the core engine to build a complete artificial intelligence ecosystem, covering computing power, general and professional large models, model risk assessment, industry application support, governance and ethics research, etc., bringing together mainland and overseas talents and Innovation resources support innovative research, development and application in different links of the artificial intelligence ecological chain, and promote industrial development. Currently, Cyberport has gathered more than 330 start-ups focusing on the research and development of artificial intelligence and big data, including the introduction of a series of key enterprises. These enterprises have invested capital, technology and talents in Hong Kong to develop international headquarters and internationalize artificial intelligence products and services. , connect overseas funds in Hong Kong, "go global" through Hong Kong's international platform, and promote business internationalization.
