Is Crypto Queen Ruja Ignatova Alive and Hiding in South Africa?
Ruja Ignatova, known as the “Crypto Queen,” has been a mystery since her disappearance in 2017.
Recent reports suggest she may be hiding in Cape Town, South Africa, specifically in the upscale Constancia area, where her brother was previously located before his arrest.
Ignatova is wanted worldwide for her role in the OneCoin crypto scam, which defrauded more than 3.5 million victims and raised more than $4 billion.
The OneCoin project, which emerged and was active between 2014 and 2017, promoted the digital currency ONECOIN as an alternative to Bitcoin, with false promises of huge returns.
The operation attracted global attention, and spawned film projects such as “Fake!” in which Kate Winslet will play a victim who lost $300,000.
Although the FBI has offered a $5 million reward for information leading to her arrest, there is no definitive evidence of her whereabouts.
Other theories suggest she was killed in 2018 by a Bulgarian drug lord named “Taki,” who allegedly ordered her body dismembered and thrown into the sea.
Her fate remains unknown, and the search for her is ongoing.
