PANews, November 22nd news, Sui released an analysis report on yesterday's downtime stating that the Sui mainnet experienced a complete outage from 5:15 PM to 7:45 PM on November 21 due to a congestion control code vulnerability, causing all validation nodes to fall into a crash loop and transaction processing to stop. The issue originated from the 'TotalGasBudgetWithCap' mode enabled in protocol v68, which triggered the crash when receiving a special transaction containing 'variable shared object input' and 'zero MoveCall instructions'. The Sui team quickly diagnosed the problem and released a fix version v1.37.4, with validators completing deployment within 15 minutes to restore normal network operation. Sui plans to reduce similar issues and response times by improving the testing system and optimizing the build process.
