In a post on X on November 20, Hoskinson outlined the key qualifications for the 'crypto czar', emphasizing neutrality, cross-protocol collaboration, and a firm grasp of the unique value of cryptocurrency. Hoskinson believes Armstrong's leadership at Coinbase makes him an ideal choice. Under Armstrong's leadership, Coinbase has become the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States and one of the first publicly listed cryptocurrency companies:
"Coinbase has grown to be one of the pillars of the cryptocurrency industry and has had to endure the unfair tactics of government enforcement in implementing regulations. I know Armstrong can build a broad tent coalition that unites the entire industry and helps us get the government to take tangible action, including through new laws."
