Free Bitcoin? 😱
🤔Can you imagine earning almost half a million dollars with just a couple of clicks? And no, it's not advertising, this is the story of bitcoin faucets.
🗓In 2010, the first bitcoin faucet, created by Gavin Andressen, one of the main developers of Bitcoin, distributed 5 BTC per person (the equivalent today of USD 470,000). What did you have to do? Just enter your BTC address, although, to obtain it you needed to install your own Bitcoin node.
The faucet was financed with its own funds. However, at that time a bitcoin was worth less than 0.01 dollars.
The creation of faucets was vital for the early development of Bitcoin. It allowed more people to get close to the cryptocurrency, having their own node and starting to make transactions. Sometimes giving away money is a good idea.
Although faucets still exist, they no longer distribute the same amount. Currently, they give away a few sats that don't even accumulate to cents. In equivalence, they distribute the same as before.
