Telegram and Intelligence: How the 'People Nearby' Feature Could Have Become a Tool for Espionage 🕵️♂️📲
Few have thought that such a simple feature as 'People Nearby' in Telegram could be used for military intelligence. But here is what Alexey Rogozin said:
🔸 GPS emulation allowed for obtaining lists of users near any point in the world, with accuracy down to meters!
🔸 Using the method of trilateration and two points, it was possible to accurately determine a person's location if they had not disabled this feature.
🔸 During the Ukrainian attack on the Kursk region, this tool even helped identify concentrations of military personnel.
But then Pavel Durov was detained in France, and the 'People Nearby' feature was turned off, rendering this tool useless. Coincidence or not? 🤔
