Trump, Coinbase CEO to Meet to Discuss Crypto Future

President-elect Donald Trump is set to meet with Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong to discuss his upcoming administration appointments, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.

This is the first meeting between the two sides since Trump won the election, and reflects a shift in the president-elect’s stance on cryptocurrencies.

Earlier this year, Trump pledged during a Bitcoin conference to create a presidential advisory council on cryptocurrencies to set clear regulatory guidelines.

Armstrong has expressed support for the Trump administration’s proposed appointments, noting that Hester Peirce, the commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission, is the best choice to lead the committee.

Under his leadership, Coinbase has become a major political backer, donating more than $100 million in the last election cycle, with a large portion of it going to candidates aligned with crypto industry interests.

Potential discussions focus on regulatory and strategic policy, with Coinbase making influential contributions via its Fairshake political action committee, which has invested nearly $40 million to support congressional candidates aligned with the industry’s vision.
