User reported the case on social media and offered a reward to anyone who can recover the lost assets

An investor revealed in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that he lost US$25 million (R$144 million, at the current exchange rate) in cryptocurrencies. However, the assets were not stolen. In fact, the user himself was responsible for the loss after making a million-dollar mistake.

The user, who did not reveal his name, revealed that the error occurred when he was going to transfer ezETH token units, which correspond to the same amount of ether units that are blocked by the user in the Renzo project.

Renzo performs the so-called restaking, that is, a user sends a certain amount of ethers to the project and the initiative stakes these digital currencies on Ethereum, blocking them on the network. In exchange, the user receives an equivalent amount in tokens from the initiative, ezETH, and can trade them on the market.

According to the user, the idea was to send the cryptocurrencies to one of his personal wallets. However, he ended up typing the destination address of the assets incorrectly and sent them to a security module of the project that prevents further movements, including withdrawals.

In the post, the investor tried to ask for help from other users: "To all the skilled hackers and white hats out there: I lost a significant amount of funds in a smart contract and I urgently need help to recover them."

He also offered a reward equivalent to 10% of the total assets, or around US$2.5 million, to anyone who can help him. However, the responses indicate that the situation is unfavorable for the reason is that, according to experts, it would only be possible to recover the assets if Renzo made a change to the smart contract it uses to manage its security modules. Therefore, the recovery of the cryptocurrencies depends, at the moment, on the goodwill of the company.

So far, Renzo has not commented on the matter and the user has not shared any updates on the case, indicating that there is a chance that he has lost the millionaire amount of assets forever. the investor.
