Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has weighed in on the recent cryptocurrency surge. Garlinghouse, who was on Fox Business’ livestream, backed Donald Trump’s election as president after the surge.
“XRP has gone up over 70 percent since the election, and I would say that the best performing cryptocurrencies are American companies or technologies,” Garlinghouse said. “That’s not surprising. The SEC has been playing with American companies and technologies, putting pressure on them. Now that that pressure is off, they’re exploding. We shouldn’t be surprised by that.”

Garlinghouse was also asked if XRP’s price had surged more than 10 percent after he liked a tweet suggesting he had met Donald Trump. Asked if the Ripple CEO rumors were true, he said, “Like most of your guests, I can’t comment too much on the specifics.” Garlinghouse said of Trump, “We finally have a crypto president. The crypto industry has embraced Trump, and Trump has embraced the crypto industry. Awareness of opportunity and innovation. I’m very excited about what’s next.”
