Consensys has launched Linea Association, a Swiss non-profit organization, to promote the growth of Linea, a zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) Layer-2 rollup. The association will focus on advancing Linea’s open-source technology and governance. It will also manage Linea’s intellectual property and treasury.
The Linea Association aims to decentralize the network by implementing a multi-layered governance structure, which includes a Board of Directors, a General Assembly, employees, and a Token Governance body. The association is independent of Consensys. The Linea ecosystem has grown significantly since its launch last year, with a partner network of over 420 by November 2024.
The LINEA token is expected to be launched by the end of Q1 2025, enabling token holders to participate in governance decisions.
