Offchain Labs is working on improving Arbitrum’s scalability and efficiency by focusing on alternative client solutions like Reth, Erigon, and Nethermind. Their goal is to increase throughput and performance for Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) blockspace. The company has developed Nitro, a technology stack specifically designed for Layer-2 solutions that allows for faster blocktimes, cheaper transactions, and a more efficient EVM.

As the demands for Layer-2 solutions grow, Offchain Labs is testing the integration of alternative clients to increase Arbitrum’s capacity. They are currently evaluating Reth, Erigon, and Nethermind, as well as optimizations for Geth. The aim is to provide better performance, customizability, reduced node operating costs, and increased ecosystem security and client diversity.
