Coinbase has launched the Coinbase 50 Index (COIN50), a new benchmark tracking over 50 digital assets. Announced on November 12, COIN50 includes major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana, with six coins making up 91% of its weight. Aimed at emerging markets, the index excludes major regions like the U.S., UK, and Canada. Institutional traders can access it via perpetual futures on Coinbase International Exchange, while retail users can use Coinbase Advanced. This move positions Coinbase against global index issuers like S&P and Nasdaq, which offer similar crypto benchmarks.
