Don't panic if you get scammed, Binance is here to help!
A woman in Henan encountered a scumbag on a dating app. This man used sweet talk to convince her to invest in a so-called cryptocurrency project, and she ended up transferring a total of 186,000 euros. In the end, all of it went into the scammer's pocket. Later, she found out it was a scam.
So she reported it to the police and also hired an investigation company to help recover her money. They found part of the stolen funds in her Binance account. Binance, on the other hand, acted responsibly and immediately froze that account.
However, Binance said they could not disclose user information casually and required a court order. The lawyer stepped in and applied to the court, which issued a ruling:
First, Binance must provide the full name and address of the scammer to this woman;
Second, there is a deadline of 14 days to act quickly;
Third, that account will remain frozen for another four weeks.
Now, these cryptocurrency platforms are facing increasingly strict regulations. Especially Binance, as institutions like the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission are cracking down on cryptocurrency-related fraud.
