In 2013, during my tenure at Ping An Insurance in Dongguan, a colleague persistently encouraged me to invest in $BTC , urging me daily. Eventually, I gave in and used around two-thirds of my monthly salary to buy five Bitcoins for 3,800. After the purchase, I found myself checking the market every day. However, after a few months, I was disheartened as my investment had not only failed to generate profit but also incurred a minor loss of a few hundred. Frustrated, I stopped monitoring it altogether. About a month later, I revisited my account and discovered that the value had doubled to 7,500. Without hesitation, I sold my holdings. The realization of cryptocurrency's potential left a lasting impression on me.

I decided to wait for Bitcoin to dip to around $110 before considering another purchase—a dip that never came. By 2017, my interest in the cryptocurrency space led me to Filecoin (FIL). Persuaded by a friend, I invested over 210,000 RMB in mining equipment, anticipating the mainnet launch, which took years to materialize.

In 2019, with 1.2 million RMB in spare capital and a sharpened sense for crypto market trends, I assessed comprehensive data and signals before purchasing 1,050 Ethereum for 980,000 RMB, using the remaining funds to invest in Ripple. By October 2020, my expectations were met as Ethereum surged to 2,800 RMB, and Ripple’s price also climbed, pushing my total portfolio close to 3.5 million RMB.

Around the same period, FIL's long-awaited mainnet was finally launched, only for me to discover that my mining equipment was fraudulent, and the project team had absconded with the funds. Despite this setback, I liquidated my holdings for USDT and invested 2.2 million RMB to buy FIL on Huobi, at prices ranging from 160 to 180 RMB per unit. At the same time, Ethereum's value doubled, growing my initial investment to 2.2 million RMB. However, it felt insufficient, so I converted it into USDT, aiming for a price dip to re-enter—an opportunity that never materialized.

Over time, I began cashing out, using the proceeds to purchase two apartments, capitalizing on a period when large transactions were not as heavily scrutinized. FIL’s price then skyrocketed to over 1,100 RMB, and my Huobi portfolio exceeded 11 million RMB. I had unwavering confidence that FIL would eventually mirror Ethereum's growth trajectory and cement its position as a major player in the crypto space.

As FIL continued its climb, reaching 1,500 RMB, my holdings of nearly 13,500 FIL brought my total assets to approximately 17 million RMB. This achievement left me feeling composed and gratified, believing my analysis had been accurate. I resolved to wait for even higher gains.

A friend offered me sound advice: "You've already achieved millionaire status, so why worry? Cash out and enjoy life." The suggestion resonated, so I formulated a plan to withdraw 1.7 million USDT into my wallet, converting it to RMB. I was prepared to carry out this decision, ready to turn my paper profits into realized gains. The story continues in the next post.
