PANews reported on November 9 that Vitalik published an article titled (From prediction markets to info finance), in which Vitalik believes that even existing prediction markets are a very useful tool for the world, but prediction markets are just one use case within the 'information finance' category, which has the potential to better realize in social media, science, news, governance, and other areas. The next decade presents a unique opportunity for the following main reasons:

  • Information finance solves the trust issues that people actually face. A common concern of this era is the lack of knowledge (and worse, the lack of consensus), not knowing whom to trust in political, scientific, and business environments. Information finance applications can help be part of the solution.

  • Now there is a scalable blockchain as a foundation. Until recently, the fees were too high to truly implement these ideas. Now the fees are not high.

  • Artificial intelligence as a participant. When information finance has to rely on human involvement for every issue, it is relatively difficult to function effectively. Artificial intelligence has greatly improved this situation, enabling effective markets even for small-scale problems. Many markets may have a combination of AI and human participants, especially when the number of specific issues suddenly increases from small to large.
