According to the South China Morning Post, law enforcement agencies from Hong Kong, Macau, and the mainland conducted a joint operation, arresting 63 suspects involved in operating a cross-border prostitution ring, with the ringleaders and core members apprehended in Hong Kong. Once the ringleader receives payment, he converts it into cryptocurrency, which is then processed through a cryptocurrency account held by the ringleader in Hong Kong. The proceeds of the crime are converted into cash through an unlicensed cryptocurrency platform in the mainland. This cross-border prostitution ring has a dedicated website that lists detailed information about mainland prostitution groups or individual sex workers.
