BlockBeats reported that on November 8, MakerDAO voted to maintain its recent rebranding, which will still be renamed to Sky. It had previously faced strong opposition from the outside, arguing that the decentralized autonomous organization behind DAI, the oldest and largest algorithmic stablecoin based on Ethereum, was wasting its industry-wide recognition.

In the vote, nearly 80% of the voting share supported keeping 'Sky as the backend protocol brand'. However, among about 20 voting entities, only four entities accounted for almost all of the voting share, with each entity having about 20% of the votes, and only one large entity opposed the proposal.
