11月8日，美联储宣布降息25个基点至4.5%-4.75%，符合市场预期。这次的决定是一致通过的，政策声明措辞基本不变，继续强调密切关注双重目标的风险，但删除了“对通胀正在可持续地朝着目标迈进更有信心”这句话，没有就未来的降息发出明确的信号，也没有以任何方式对美国大选的结果发表评论。 最新指标显示，经济活动继续稳健扩张。今年以来，劳动力市场状况总体有所缓和，失业率上升但仍然处于低位。通胀在逐步接近委员会的2%目标，但仍然略高于目标水平。 委员会的目标是实现最大化就业和长期2%的通胀率。委员会判断，达到就业和通胀目标的风险大体平衡。经济前景仍存在不确定性，委员会密切关注双重目标的风险。 为了支持其目标，委员会决定将联邦基金利率的目标区间下调25个基点至4.5%至4.75%。在考虑对联邦基金利率目标区间的进一步调整时，委员会将仔细评估新数据、经济前景的变化以及风险的平衡。委员会还将继续减少其持有的国债、机构债务和机构抵押贷款支持证券的规模。委员会坚定致力于支持最大化就业并将通胀恢复至2%的目标。
