PANews reported on October 31 that Polygon co-founder Daniel Lubarov stated on the X platform that its zero-knowledge proof system Plonky3 can now handle over 2 million Poseidon2 hash operations per second. This advancement is primarily related to memory optimization, including avoiding data copying, skipping zeroing operations, and merging FFT steps to keep content in cache.

In response, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated: "The Polygon team has won this race, with a processing speed equivalent to 62 MB of Merkle tree hash calculations per second, sufficient to complete the re-hashing of Ethereum's maximum theoretical consensus state within a single slot."
