Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, announced the implementation of a digital identity system based on blockchain technology and zero-knowledge cryptography on its government service platform miBA. More than 3.6 million active miBA users have obtained a decentralized digital identity developed by Web3 company Extrimian, QuarkID. The system improves privacy and security, laying the foundation for personal data ownership to become a fundamental right protected by advanced cryptography. Buenos Aires has also launched a series of blockchain initiatives, including putting documents such as birth and marriage certificates on the chain.
