According to Deep Tide TechFlow news on October 23, reported by Cointelegraph, the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, announced the implementation of a digital identity system based on blockchain technology and zero-knowledge cryptography on its government service platform miBA. Since October 1, over 3.6 million active miBA users have obtained decentralized digital identities (DIDs) developed by the Web3 company Extrimian.

The QuarkID wallet is supported by the Ethereum scaling protocol ZKsync Era and employs zero-knowledge proof technology. Diego Fernández, the Secretary of Innovation and Digital Transformation of Buenos Aires, stated that this initiative not only enhances privacy and security but also lays the foundation for personal data ownership to become a fundamental right protected by advanced cryptography.

The system adopts a self-managed model that allows citizens to securely manage their credentials when interacting with the government, businesses, and other individuals. This is one of a series of blockchain initiatives launched in recent years by Buenos Aires, which previously announced plans to put documents such as birth and marriage certificates on the blockchain.
