Ethereum (ETH) founder Vitalik Buterin has expressed support for the concept of adding chain names to wallet addresses. In a recent exchange on X, Buterin stated that he would like to see an Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) that registers such information on-chain. The idea was initially raised by an anonymous X user who inquired about the possibility of integrating ERC-3770 into MetaMask. This proposal aims to provide a readable name for a blockchain, displayed alongside the standard wallet address. Buterin elaborated on his vision for the implementation, suggesting a format like "0x12345....89:optimism.eth" or "optimism.eth:0x12345....89." By incorporating chain names, users can easily identify the specific blockchain associated with a particular address, enhancing transparency and convenience.
