Komainu, a Japanese crypto custodian backed by Nomura, Ledger, and CoinShares, has acquired Singapore digital asset custody provider Propine. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Propine holds a Capital Markets Services license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, which will enable Komainu to expand its presence in the region. The company also plans to apply for a full Major Payment Institution License in Singapore to offer payment services in the future. "Propine's strong regulatory compliance and local expertise will be invaluable as we expand our global footprint," said Komainu CEO Paul Frost-Smith. "This acquisition will allow us to provide our clients with a more comprehensive suite of custody and payment services in Singapore and beyond." Komainu's acquisition of Propine is a strategic move that will strengthen its position as a leading provider of digital asset custody and payment services in Asia. The acquisition will also help Komainu to expand its global reach and serve a wider range of clients.
