BlockBeats News, on October 22, Facebook's parent company Meta Platforms (META.O) will begin using facial recognition technology to combat scams that use celebrity photos, known as 'celebrity bait ads.'

Scammers use celebrities' photos to entice users to click on ads, then direct them to suspicious websites aimed at stealing personal information or soliciting money. Meta will start using facial recognition technology to filter out these ads by comparing images in posts with images on celebrities' Facebook or Instagram accounts.

Meta wrote in a blog post: 'If we confirm a match and the ad is a scam, we will block it.' Meta did not disclose how common this type of scam is on its services. (Jinshi)
