Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk began donating $1 million a day on Saturday to residents in swing states who signed a petition from his pro-Trump super PAC, America PAC. The petition defends free speech and the right to bear arms, reflecting Musk’s strong stance on protecting constitutional rights. At a rally in Pennsylvania, Musk explained the initiative, saying:

"We're giving away $1 million every day from now until Election Day, starting tonight."

The initiative is part of Musk’s broader strategy to influence the upcoming election, where he has strongly endorsed former President Donald Trump. Musk has warned that losing the election could endanger democracy. He has also criticized government overreach and offered to lead a Trump-led commission to reform federal operations to reduce waste and inefficiency.

At the Pennsylvania event, Musk revealed that the first person to receive the $1 million prize was John Dreher, a petition signer. On stage, he announced: "I have a surprise for you. We will randomly award $1 million to people who signed the petition... every day from now until the election."

Musk has often been critical of excessive regulation in the US, arguing that it stifles innovation, particularly in space exploration. He has clashed with government agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), accusing them of slowing down SpaceX's progress.

To address government waste and inflation, Musk has proposed reforming bureaucratic processes and expressed his desire to lead a commission to eliminate waste in federal programs. He argues that regulations often accumulate over time without careful evaluation, creating unnecessary barriers to the growth of industries. Musk has warned that the United States is on the brink of bankruptcy without major reform, predicting that laws and regulations will only get worse over time.

The $1 million donation a day is aimed at raising awareness of the petition. On his social media platform X, Musk wrote:

"The goal of the $1 million a day reward is to raise awareness of our petition to protect the Constitution."
