Ape Names
Ape Names will be launched by D3 at 22:00 on October 22. D3 is a new generation identity company focused on bridging the gap between traditional Internet infrastructure and Web3. It plans to apply for .APE TLD (top-level domain) and will initially support minting and trading domain names on ApeChain.
In a forum proposal, D3 team members stated that D3 intends to provide each BAYC and MAYC NFT holder with a related APE domain name, (e.g. MACHI*APE, 7065*APE). Members of the ApeCoin community will have priority to register before other *APE domain names are made available to the public. D3 will commit to giving 50% of all gross revenue generated back to the ApeCoin DAO.
However, it is worth noting that applying for a TLD top-level domain name is not easy. No entity or individual can directly own a TLD. ICANN grants the right to exclusively operate and profit from each TLD to a specific organization through a contract, and the authorization contracts for these TLDs are automatically renewed every 10 years.
