A 25-year-old guy, Eric Council, was recently arrested by the FBI because he posted a fake message saying that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved a Bitcoin spot ETF.

People in the cryptocurrency circle have been looking forward to the SEC's nod to allow the Bitcoin ETF to go online. As a result, this guy actually made a big move, controlling the SEC's X account and issuing a false statement saying that the ETF has been approved.

But the good times didn't last long. The SEC quickly came out to refute the rumor, saying that the account was hacked. This refutation caused the price of Bitcoin to drop again!

Later, after a number of institutions investigated, it was found that this guy and his accomplices controlled the SEC account through SIM card swapping. To put it bluntly, they used some means to transfer the phone number of SEC employees to their own SIM cards, and then they could bypass the security procedures and enter the account.

After this incident, he probably panicked and searched online for "How do I know if I am being investigated by the FBI?"
