The attorneys general of 18 states in the US have called on President Joe Biden to release Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan from his detention in Nigeria. The attorneys general are calling for Gambaryan to be recognized as a hostage under the Robert Levinson Hostage Recovery and Taking Accountability Act. In a joint letter published on October 18, it was stated that Gambaryan’s health was deteriorating and that he was being held unlawfully in Nigeria. “His continued detention without cause is not only a violation of his rights, but also poses a serious risk to his health and well-being,” Attorney General John Formella said.
